John Lee “Sonny Boy” Williamson was born in Jackson, Tennessee in 1914.
Williamson brought the sound of the blues harp from the Memphis Delta to the Chicago Blues scene, becoming one of the early greats in American Blues music.
His song ‘Shannon Street Blues’ harkens back to the early juke joints and house parties Sonny Boy would have started his career in.
How incredible would it be if Sonny Boy had the chance to play for the party on the stage just west of Shannon Street, downhill from the West Tennessee Farmer’s Market?
Find that stage, you’ll be one step closer to the Hideout.
